Hey, How is everyone doing? I hope awesome. I am a college clarinet player here in Nashville, TN. I am one of a few Clarinet Performance majors in Nashville. I`ve actually spoken with some of you via email about different things concerning orchestras, clarinet questions, etc. I would like to have some more pen pals for clarinet issues. Dr. Clarinet

I am a Clarinetest! I am 12th grader in the Symphonic band! I am trying hard to be a good clarinetist. The problem is, my clarinet still squeeks after switching through octives back and forth.

I love watching people squeak, and they just take the clarinet out of their mouth and stare at it with the evil eye glare. OMG that's HILARIOUS!!!! It is player malfunction sweetie. Tighten your embochure and don't let it loose for anything! Also you might need to work on your finger reactions. It is possible that your fingers are not going onto the keys at the same time, and that would cause an awfully horrible screech. Hope this helps!

HAHAHAH!!! Toni, I used to do the same thing! I know what it is like to be in the middle of a Solo in band and let out this awful wretched squawk! My favorite song in band was called Casa Grande. It had a Clarinet Cadenza that I and the Second Chair Clarinet turned into a duel at our Spring Concert. That was so much fun, but I squeaked every time we practiced. We did some insane stuff with that duel. I didn't squeak during the concert, though. That's all that counted! We also played poulenc's Sonata for Two Clarinets also during that concert. People had these odd looks on their faces after we finished. You know why if you have ever heard that piece!
