The Standards of Excellence is what I first used a year ago... I am sure that will work for him

Ed Sueta Band Method is a great book for those just starting out.

There are two great books that helped me when I was a beginner. The first one is ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS 2002, and the other one is called FOUNDATIONS FOR SUPERIOR PERFORMANCES. Once the books are purchased, I recommend that your son practices the scales and arpeggios in the foundatoins for superior performances at the back of the book. while doing the scales in Full Range, practice the scales at a slow tempo, then as he know all the notes gradually speed the tempo up. While doing the scales, also do the warm ups in "foundations..." Once he feels that those books aren`t hard enough, buy the "C. Baermann" book. Its a complete method for clarinet Op.63, and the publisher is Carl Fisher. If u need more advice or have any questions just e-mail me.

Accent on Achievement is good too, so is the Rubank Elementary method book. (Rubank are the best in my opinion)

i would get him a few different books (maybe start with two)...just because it gets boring playing out of the same book.

The book I started with is called "Clarinet Student." It will teach your son all of the basics, and things he may not learn within the district.

Zdravo Bojane,
Ja sam Jasna.
Za tvog sina bi najbolja bila knjiga Bruno Brun 1 trenutno , a kada završi s njom može ići na Bruno Brun 2.
Te su knjige najbolje , i ima ih na Balkanu.
P.S. Ja sam iz Bosne
