mkay, im not a wind player but i know quite a few wind players(including a few proffesionals) in their own oppinion and experience its really not nessicary..

i`m pretty sure one said that you blow with your cheeks(after filling them with air from your lungs) then you enhail deep with your nose while your cheeks give that air a good push through your instrument.(heard its pretty damn hard to pull off!)

i once found a really good article and it taught in great detail how to circular breathe... our section leader knows how to do it, but when one asks her how she simply responds... just fill your cheeks with air and then blow out, then inhale through your nose.

practice just blowing up your cheeks then letting air escape through a small opening while breathing through your nose. once you have mastered that, practice blowing through a straw, then finially practice blowing into a glass of water.

be warned, it takes alloottt of support and control to make it work on an instrumet. plus, its near impossible to do it on high notes or extreme low notes...

hope this helps, e-mail if you hav more questions.

Circle breathing is HARD! a friend of mine beat boxes and he wanted to encorperate a didgeridoo into one of his songs, so he asked me to help with circle breathing techniques.
First, fill your lungs with air, until they are very full but not totally full, and make sure your cheeks are full of air (puffed out) and then breathe in through your nose, and concentrate on getting the air out of your cheeks (not exactly exhaling, just the removal of air stored in your cheeks) then once you can do that and get the air out with enough pressure work on the actual release of air from the lungs

hope i helped!

Its pretty easy after getting the hang of it... Okay when blowing the air puff your cheeks out and use the muscles in your cheeks to continue to puch the air out of your mouth and at the same time breathe in through your nose then just blow the air reguarly. Try doing it with out the horn first then once you get the hang of it use your horn. Hope this helps

ok this is really disgusting, but it WORKS! Eat something that smells horrible (i.e. a garlic clove). Put your hand in front of your face. Breathe in, fill your cheeks up and use a combination of your cheek muscles and your tongue to push the air out of mouth and then breathe in the air through your nose...you should smell the garlic or whatever you ate while you`re still exhaling. Next is just learning how to support it so that your clarinet still plays from the force of the air leaving your mouth.
