I play the b flat clarinet right now, but over the summer I plan on switching to bass clarinet over the summer! I think it will be so cool, and I can`t wait until marching season!

I march with my Bass; I have the Grand Floral Parade (Rose Festival) that I`m doing this Saturday.. the march is like, five to six miles long. The funny thing is that people are like "woah that looks heavy".. I mean, comparing to a regular Bb Clarinet, yes, the Bass Clarinet IS heavier, but once it`s on a neck-strap, it weighs practically nothing Oo; Or maybe that just happens when you`ve marched two-three times with it or something *shrug*.

Hope you have fun with marching ^_^

Bass Clarinet`s usually play with the Tuba/Bariton/Bari. Sax, basically, the bass line of the band. In middle school, I was forced to use the Clarinet; though, since I own my own Bass, I can march with it all I want I guess it would be whether your band teacher wants you to march with it or not, but that depends if you`re renting a Bass, or using the schools... o-o; V. complicated, sometimes, but it`s all good in the end

Hey, Bassmaster, that was kind of rude, what you said:

"OMG i cant believe u all dont know how to play a low D unless all of you own a Low C it isnt your problem the low D is always present on the left and right hand pinke keys and some times on the right hand thumb i`m thirteen and I had to figure it out by myself you guy are stupid

A lot of the Bass Clarinet (such as student, or just the model type) instruments don`t have the Low D fingering, the low D below the staff. So don`t go thinking that we`re all idiots. And please don`t go "well why don`t you own a Low D or low C instrument." I happen to own my own bass, and I just don`t have five, ten thousand dollars to spend just to play a few more notes, kiddies.

PS: Megan and Bassmaster; you`re in what, sixth, eighth grade? Ooh no, and you`re in FIRST chair. Big whoop. No one cares. By the time you`re in high school, no one will care. So stop acting like you`re on your high-horse, because it`s irratating to hear little kids all like "OMG I`m in FIRST chair." Oh no, you`re in first chair. You MUST be the most talented player. -_- Sorry, but if you enter high school and start going "I`m the best I had first chair", seriously, people will hate you. Just telling you, but whatever, do what you want.

Sorry for the hateful post, but honestly. Kids these days.

i have to agree with the last person. just because u know a few more note doesnt mean ur smarter, that just means that u have a little more knowlege, and plus, its an instrument its not like its brain surgery. im not the smartest kid in my class and i play the bass clarinet just fine. that doesnt make me a smarter student. nd besides, u junior highers, just wait till high school. no ones gunna care if u were first chair, thats junior high, high school`s harder, nd no one cares how good u are. so dont tell people ur smarter than them, becuz anyone can play the bass clarinet, its not a test, its not homework. id like to see a normal junior high student go through a day of high school. its a lot different. its harder.

so here`s the last thing im gunna say. im most likely not as good as u r cuz this was my first year, so rite now im gunna brag about it. IM NOT FIRST CHAIR! IM NOT THE BEST AT THE BASS CLARINET!! AND I COULD CARE LESS!!!! im just happy to play the bass clarinet. im playing it for other people to enjoy it, not for me to brag about it. have fun.

Clare Annette Forte? Great name. You would happen to be one and the same soprano from the Crusaders in 1990? If so, email me BostonsBrat@aol.com
