I have tried a conn clarinet it was ok compared to me selmer but I do not know if that was because of it being a school one or not. I was able to use it for a little while when mine was being fixed. It was one that a kid was already using but I only needed it for marching band to he let me use it. I used a wooden one for concert band then. It sounded quite well and I think that it could have sounded a lot better if it had been recorked before my friend had to use it. They really do sound nice though considering all in all but I will still stick to the selmers. I do not know what type of condition it was in other then what I could tell by it`s sound because I am blind but I know since it got it`s overhaull it sounds a lot better.

I don`t think that a recorking would have made very much of a difference. I also don`t think it`s good to judge a brand of clarint after playing only one.

I can see how you say that but I was just saying what I though of the one that I was able to use. But yes believe it or not a recorking does quite a bit for the sound. If there is not a propper fit it will change the sound of a clarinet. I must say that I am not sure if everyone can tell but since 8th grade I had to start learning music music by ear that I started to notice little changes in the sound of notes. I now learn music by listening to the notes because I am blind and can not longer read sheet music.
