There is a serious lack of good oboe players out there. By all means, go for it! I haven`t played it myself, but I still love its sound, and it makes a great addition to a concert band!

ive heard the fingering is similar to flute,sax etc but you need a lot of air

hey, i`ve just played the oboe for a few years now and have not tried an other wood wind(recorder:-), but i`ve also heard that it`s harder than other ones.
the "problem" is that it has two reeds, so you need better control over the mouthpiece. but: heay, listen to the sound of clarinets!
play the oboe!

I do play Clarinet and i heard that Oboe has close fingering. I guess ill have to make up my mind soon
