I`ve been playing oboe for 6 mths. Yet, I think I still don`t have the muscle for controlling the reeds. My lips and the surrounding muscles would get so soar that, after breathing in and out for a few times, I must stop for a few seconds before I can continue... the lips would get very tight on the reeds... just wanna know how you oboe experts out there practice to develop the lip control...

Longtones, and just practicing for long periods and working with tuners and all. That`s all you can do to build endurance. Hope this helps!
