Greetings fellow oboist! I`m really trying to work on my tone right now, and I asked my band director how to get a more pleasing tone, kind of like the actual sound of the oboe, and he said that it is mostly about the reed. Now, I am far beyound the "dieing duck" tone, but im not at the "beautiful and gorgous" tone yet. Any advice on this topic would really help!
Thanks in Advance,

Long tones are helpful, but not without proper technique. Your first step is to find a competent teacher.

I concur with the longtones idea because it will help build endurance and intonation of your sound. I also agree with a competent teacher who can help make reeds. Also, be sure to listen to many different recordings!Hope this helps and if you need anymore help feel free to e-mail me at Shoko2@hotmail.com! HAPPY REEDING!
