Have recently bought a lafleur oboe, ring system with back plate, what quality is this kind of instrument???? it seems to be ok, with no cracks in it.. just a bit of the usual wear and tear on the keys....
does anyone have any info on these instruments (lafleurs), no one in my are knows anything about them....
would appreciate anything!!!!!

Sounds like you have a thumb-plate oboe-which used to be-and maybe still is very standard in the UK. The ring system is nothing abnormal, before the Plateux or Conservatoire system all oboes were ring.
