Okie doke .. so I looked online and either just didn`t put in a good search topic or something.

I`ve been repairing my school`s student model Linton oboe and I`ve finally gotten it to where there is only one problem left. But I don`t know how to fix it.

The Problem - when you push down the secong RH key, the C-key drops as well.

My Problem - the screw that is connected to the C-key will not budge and is stripped (probably from people trying to unscrew it without realizing that it is NOT going to move). Also, there is no screw AT ALL where the C#-key is connected to the rod.

I`m sure it would be a lot of help if that screw would move, but alas it will not.
So, do you know how to make the C-key stay up instead of falling when the 2nd RH key is pressed?
Or, do you have any idea how much it would cost to have this screw removed, that key adjusted, and a new screw put in?

Thanks.

Why are you adjusting a school oboe when it sounds like you know nothing about instrument adjustemnt?

Eh, alright. Well, I adjust my own oboe (my present and the last one I had, but sold) with no problems at all. I adjust my sister`s flute when it needs it and there`s no problem there. I`ve also fixed my sister`s old clarinet. I have no problem adjusting instruments .. I don`t do major repairs of course because I don`t have extra screws, cork, etc.
The oboe at my school just has major problems (and I`ve been told that it is not going to be one of the first instruments there to be repaired). So I`ve made it playable in all ways except for the fact that any time you try to play a D, in the staff or below it, the C-key falls and the D does not come out. So all I need is to fix this one problem and it will work fine.

just ignore people who make comments like that.

i`d say just bring it to the repair shop. s/he can`t charge you that much for ONE problem.

maybe the problem is a pin that`s loose, not the rod or the screws? haha. that`s all i can say. well i hope you find the answer.
