Hitting the low notes

Hey everyone. I have been playing the oboe for 4 years at school and my teacher hasn`t given me any advice on how to hit the notes around middle c. All that he has said is that it will take me a while to get. Also, is Db supposed to sound muffled because mine sounds horrible.

Hey good news, today I loosened a screw that holds the pinkie key that controls low c just a little bit and I can play down to low Bb! The change also made my Db less fuzzy sounding. I was so proud of myself today!

my friend said that if u put the upper lip closer, it will be easier to make a sound
