Im a little confused on what exactly the problem is here, but here we go. The Aflat key (the pinky one on the left hand) plays fine while holding it or just tounging 8th notes or any type of notes, except when i start to push the key up and down fast as if im trilling on it. If i move it even just a little fast like 2 or 3 times up or down, the note just like stops coming out, and a horrible squeaking noise comes out of the oboe. However, when I use the other Aflat keys on the other side of the oboe for my right hand pointer finger, they work fine if i trill on them, and the note doesnt squack at all....whats wrong with this oboe???!

These are just a few tips:

1)make sure the key is not moved out of place when you play it.

2)make sure the pad is still in it.

3)if it`s still screwed up, take it to a repair shop. I think if it needs super minor work they might do it for free depending on where you go!
Good luck!

Taylor,

If the right hand G# key works, and the left hand one doesn`t, it`s a player problem, not the instrument. Both keys are linked to the same vent. Having said that, your problem may be not fully covering the little hole on the G key. When trilling on this note, I could see how a player may tighten the grip on the instrument and actually slide the ring finger of the left hand up without knowing it, causing the hole to be slightly uncovered. Use the right hand G# for trilling, that should make for an easier trill.

I`ve just noticed how old this post was made; I hope you have found a solution to the problem before now!

I know this person, and he wanted to inform that the problem had been fixed, it was on a fox oboe and he was hitting the little trill key that rests next to the G# key. It had been depressed slightly and he didnt know he was doing it, it was opening up the lower vent that rests above the first left hand key.
