Hi,
Most of you that know me, know me as Riki TheFlautist, but now I`ve switched to oboe!
I was wondering if anyone had any beginner tips, since I was having great trouble playing, even though I do play ok for a 2 hour beginner.

Wow, that`s really cool! I just did that two weeks ago and I think I am sounding pretty good. One thing I did when I was learning to play was put too much reed in my mouth to try and tune. This will result in a bad tone and it still was out of tune. I had played off and on for about a year before I actually bought one so I already knew most of the fingerings and the basics on getting a tone. Well,I hope this will help with one problem and if you need anything else just ask.
Best of luck on learning the Oboe, Shawn

Good luck on the Oboe. Just don`t get discouraged. With a good embouchure and good amount of practice the Oboe will take to you.
Though do keep in mind that if you don`t touch your flute for a while you`ll lose your lips.

Hey that is great that you are trying something new. Don`t give up easily!! It is more complicated then people think. I have gotten mad many a time but you have to keep going and you will become great!! Good Luck and stay positive!! With that you will be a great player in no time!!
