Hi everyone, If one of you out there knows the full and complete steps of properly oiling the bore of a wooden oboe could you please post them here. I have recently purchased an older wooden oboe and I know it could use a bore oiling since it sat in a closet for years and years and I have no idea how to do it, Thanks.

The following web page has info on oiling the bore, & is basically how I do it.

Yep. I don`t make a palaver of it. I have a spare pair of mops, rub a little oil onto my hands, run each mop up and down a couple of times so the oil just about coats the tips, wash my hands thoroughly then apply the mops. I only do it when the oboe is absolutely dry and room temp. And change the oil every few months - natural sweet almond doesn`t keep for all that long unless it`s had additives - not for me. When I get new oil I wash the mops.

I do this in accordance with Howarth`s guide - like every month at the mo as this oboe isn`t a year old. (I ought to read it again to see if I should reduce the frequency). The other one I do about annually.
