Hello,
Does anyone own/have an opinion on this oboe:
Barrington Oboe 801.
It is available through wwbw.com, and is extremely cheap for the features it offers (all trills, third octave, almost full conservatory!)
$750.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The review on WWandBW by Gerard is a bandmate of mine. He seemed to really like it and was playing it instead of his Loree for a while until he had a weird vibration issue. He tried to get it fixed at a local repair shop rather than returning it and never did get it fixed. I told to exchange it for another, but I think he still kept it.
Someone was selling a used Barrington for around $500 on craigslist and I made an offer for it, but I ended up winning a bid on Ebay for a Loree at $515, with a 7day trial.
There`s a professional Selmer on Ebay that`s going in 40 minutes from now for $350 so far...
Though Ebay instrument may need extensive repair which can cost anywhere from $300-1000 or no repair at all.
Happy hunting.

I had one of these and it was extremelty crappy! Piece of junk, the keywork is the bad part of it, it is very flimsy and can very easily fall out of adjustment. The instrument itself feels good, but in a playing sense they suck. I would advise against it, but some people do get lucky and say otherwise. I eventually got rid of mine. If its all you can afford i would agree with the persons post above me and try for something on ebay with 750 bucks because you can most likely get a better instrument for the same amount or maybe even less than the barrington. Good luck!
