I play just about everything in the band, from tuba to clarinet and everything in between except oboe until recently. Ive had pretty good luck so far but i cant for the life of me get the thing to consistantly play above about G in the second octive , its driving me absolutely nuts! Just wondering if anyone that knows how to play oboe can give me some advice.

heeeey dont worry, give yourself sometime, the oboe aint a easy instrument.. its alot different to other instruments being a double reed too and you need alot of support to get a steady, even tone high note.. wait until you get to highest Eb - F .. but yeah just give yourself sometime you`re only human.. but if it really bugs you that much.. maaaaaaayb you can try play the high note.. and JUST the high note.. (if you can) and just sustain the dynamic of the note and the pitch of it.. then try going from G-A (SLOWLY)... or from G- B and etc. i dnt kno what im saying.. but it helps me with higher notes.. enyways best luck.. and once again.. the oboe tkaes time.
