I started the oboe two years ago, and the trombone three years ago. I like both instruments very much. What im planning on doing, is playing the oboe is our symphonic band, and play the trombone in jazz band. Is that a good idea or not?

yay, double reed.

First of all I play 7 instruments, and here are some background for them, ordered from most advanced to less advanced instruments...

Piano - I started when I was like 8... and then after a year or so, I quit because it was pretty boring. Then, after about 3 years I started practicing by myself, and then an year later, I started getting lessons and seriously started practicing, and I`m working on doing the RCM`s Gr. 6 exam. I play songs from Bach to Alicia Keys, and I`m currently working on Robert Schumann`s `Wichtige Begebenheit`.

Bassoon - I just started bassoon in October, so about 3 months, and play in a school band.. In the 3 months I`ve progressed very fast, the fastest learner the director ever met.. (yay) And I`m working on getting a bassoon of my own... but not easy considering the price of around $3000 and up...

Oboe - I started over the summer of 2005, and at first I was a deadly duck, but after about 3 months, I amazingly was able to sound `listenable` and played one of my favourite songs, which was a Japanese oboe solo. That was the first double-reed, and now I`m able to play the bassoon, which I really wanted to do.

Flute - Played it in Gr. 7 band, worked very hard on it, practiced literally every day, but I didn`t really have a chance to do advanced music on it, and right now I have a flute but dont have the time to seriously play it.

Piccolo - After about 2 months of playing the flute, I finally got my wish to play the piccolo, originally I wanted to play the piccolo but the band director wouldnt let me borrow his unless I could get a high G on the flute. I loved playing it, except that it was a hobo metal one, and I would LOVe to play a wooden piccolo some day...

Clarinet - I played it in Gr. 6 band, and I kinda played 1st chair, but that was just gr. 6 band after all... That was the first wind instrument I`ve ever played.

French Horn - I just started this wicked instrument about 2 months ago, my first brass. I was renting my oboe, but I started bassoon so I wasn`t gonna need an oboe so I asked my dad if I could get a French Horn for renting instead. It was pretty tough starting, since I haven`t played the trumpet before which is what normal people probably do. I`m not much good at it and I don`t really see a future with this instrument, sadly so this is a hobby instrument..

Ok, so there`s the list...a bit long...
My main instrument would be the Piano, but in the wind, the Bassoon and Flute 2nd. I plan on taking piano a bit farther, maybe even get around gr. 8 or 9 in a few more years, and play the bassoon throughout college/university.
Although I would very much like to, I won`t be a musician, but get a good job and take music as a hobby.
Again, I`m very sorry about the lonnngng post...

Well, I`ve played trumpet for 2 1/2 years and started oboe a month and 9 days ago. Guess it`s not that much of a history, but it`s something.
