Hi My Name is Dalton I just started playing oboe Does Anyone have any advice for me to use or websites to visit?

Yeah i do cuz i just recently started playing to but now im prety good to ask for advice so just ask away!

I just started out as well! In December. SO worth it. My only advice, you will sound like a duck, it is just the way it is! But you will eventually get it! I know by nature you will bite down on the reed or down on your back teeth, don`t do that! Keep your embouchure as my teacher tells me, like you are blowing bubbles through a straw. You do not want to get into bad habits. But yes, keep going at it, it is so much fun. And if you can, try and find an oboe teacher. I found mine quite cheap, 20 dollars an hour plus she supplies me with reeds at a small fee. Just gotta look. I found her by contacting the principal oboist in my city`s symphony. He helped me out alot, so even send an e-mail to your city`s principal oboist. Such a big help. And don`t hesitate to seek assistance from oboes in your section, my senior oboe has been one of the biggest helps. Don`t hesitate to ASK. Goodluck!

I, too, just started about a month ago! It helps if you have some sort of musical background, but if you don`t, check around with your friends. They could probably help out a lot. There`s a site that helped me out a lot. The title was Oboe For Idgets -which now makes me feel stupid, but I was teaching myself- and I`m not sure of the URL.

If you want to learn as fast as possible, practice (or try to) as much as you can. Are you teaching yourself? Or are you in a class or learning from a teacher?
