I have an oboe with no name- only a serial number- which is SO22.
It`s a wooden conservatory model with 3rd octave key and certainly not new.
Would anyone be able to help me determine the maker?
Hope someone can help.
Many thanks
George

Does it have all of those keys and the little grooves on this one?

Oh, did it come with a case? If it did, what color felt does it have?

Hi George,

I did a little research on your question, and finding an answer seems near impossible. From what I have found, it is definitely not a Loree (unfortunatley or not, however you see it ). I looked over this site, and I am not seeing any numbers that resemble yours http://www.musictrader.com/serialnos.html Is the number legible enough to confirm SO22? It might just be an oboe by a small maker or an offshoot brand of another company. Whos knows. You might even want to try contacting respected people in the oboe field if the mystery is driving you crazy.

My feelings are, if it plays well, it doesn`t really matter who made the instrument. Hope this helps.

Some oboe specialty shops do offer appraisal services. What major city do you live in/near?
