Though I'm not an oboe player, I know what song this is(we played it yesterday in band!) I play solo clarinet and I think it's a beautiful song. The oboe solo is great too.

Heya! I've played the oboe solo in the Vaughan Williams Folk Song Suite...it's a nice solo. Not much to advise, just to make it sound as beautiful as possible and put as much expression into it as you can. My conductor kept asking for really big crescendos up the high notes too. Have fun playing that, it's lovely!

i've played it. i love the first movement when it goes into 6/8 and the whole low brass melody with the upper woodwinds playing triplets. its orchestrated quite well.

and its a shame you don't have an oboe....
