abosolutly! I just started playing in november of 05 and already i'm playing really advanced stuff. Stuff I could never have even imagined playing on clarinet. I love it to death and already my band director is talking to me about scholorship programs and and getting private lessons since I taught myself how to play. Its great. I'm glad other people get to experiance the feeling of you know being able to play something good out something only learned not too long ago

Yep, definitely. It's natural, but still not easy. For me the hardest thing is breathing in the right way, not playing notes! It's come much quicker to me than piano has (I am almost overtaking the piano grade-wise, but I've played piano for a year extra).

fingerings definitely came easy for me and all the basics and i don't think i had much of the usual "dying duck" sound when i started

although... like oboedude888 said, the oboe is a difficult instrument. breathing, using the correct embouchure, sounding very good, and playing with character can be challenging!
