Does anyone here own a musette/piccolo oboe? I have done research about them and found that they are usually made in the key of Eb, though some are made in F. I know there is one made by Marigaux, but does anyone else know of a company that actively produces these instruments? I've always wanted one!

Loree, Marigaux, and Fratelli Patricola make oboe musettes, except Loree calls theirs a piccolo oboe. Loree and Marigaux are French and their instruments are in F. Fratelli Patricola is Italian, and their instrument is in E-flat. Hope this helps!

Hi,

I own a piccolo oboe -- Loree musette in F. It's a very peculiar sounding "creature". I expect to write a couple compositions for it in the new year to go on my 8th cd which will be predominantly for double reeds. Tuning is odd, but it fingers the same as all oboes though very closely spaced. I like that it is in the key of F. As an oboe player, I don't really think/hear in Eb!
