i realy realy need help with my solo...i play 2nd oboe but my 1st oboist got out from my school's orchestra and now i'm the only oboist there!!
well i'm playing the solo in russian christmas music (covering for english horn) and the conductor wanted me to produce a "vibrato" the problem is...how do i produce one?? he said to try and make a ha-ha sound but it isnt work out good...
and theres this other piece called
"Le'rechoure" and theres this realy stupid part that i cant get right
its something like that....i mean i cant it to be a fast like that...i keep complaining that playing that part is irrilogical!!! my hands will burn if i play like that~~

Ok, firstly don't panic - vibrato is just added to 'colour' the note, it's not essential.
It's going to take a lot of pracitce, but this is the way i got taught:
1) Play a really long held note
2) At crotchet = 60 count to 4 and on each 4th beat accent the note, like the attack of the start of the note. Keep on doing this until you feel confident.
3) Now increase the accent to every other beat, i.e. on the 1st and 3rd beat, staying at a nice slow speed.
4) Progress to every beat, then to quavers then semi quavers and so on. Eventually it will become natural and you won't even have to think about it.
