I notice that I seem to have a reflex... whenever I play long notes, my embouchure would slowly get tightened when my breath is almost exhausted... Is it a correct response or is it something that I must overcome?

That can happen when those lip muscles become exhausted. If you practice everyday and lengthen the time each week that will help with your embouchure. Also focus on relaxing your jaw.
