I can only really see things that unite the double reed players.

It takes devotion and practice to play these instruments well. If you don't play them you just don't know.

Double reeders should stick together like peanut butter & jelly

Oboe's are smaller, lighter and you can find more oboe music than bassoon music.

Hmm.. not quite true. There is plenty of bassoon music available too, you just have to look in the right places.
