I've just been chatting to someones duaghter who plays on a buffet oboe. When she was playing with some others the other day she was told to pull the reed off a little to tune better with the others but she said when she pulls it off enough the reed is too lose. She's playing on rico oboe reeds so i would ahve thouhgt they'd be ok, she said shes played on karacha elite oboe reeds before and didn't have the same problem. I'm a sax player..that's why they asked me lol... but I'm not sure, does the tightness on the cork often vary or do people find the rico reeds too lose ever?

Thanks,

A

I've noticed that it does differ on reeds. Some are hard to get in and out others arnt. Just try using different sorts.

I've heard that oboe reeds do vary.
Some people use thin cigarette paper or floss to thicken it up so it won't wiggle.

Good luck
