I'm considering learning oboe. I've played flute for 7 years, and have learned several other woodwinds. I just wanted some advice on what a good beginner oboe would be. Any suggestions?
You may want to start with a rental oboe to see if you like playing the oboe.
Fox makes a nice line of oboes. You could start with the least expensive Fox model as a good beginner's oboe. There are other makes too, & recommendations depend, in part, on how much you want to pay at this point in time.
I know how it feels to start oboe. I justed stared this year. My band teacher said they need another oboe and I took the spot.I was a flute, but now an oboe. It was hard, but never give up. Start out with working with getting a sound out of the reed. Double reed is hard for a person how never played a reed insterment. Just don't give Up.Pucker your lips or say "bed", rest the reed on the bottom lip and press down with the top lip. Pressing down how hard depends on the reed brand. Also buy two reeds at a time. You never know when one will brake. Any more questions send a message to me page. Good luck.
it will be hard take some time but if u put ur mind to it and work on it u could do it it was hard for me to get it right i have been playing for almost 4 years now and i love it so good luck
Awesome! Sounds great... When you start keep trying, don't be put off by anything anyone says to criticise you (they're just jealous). It's really good that you're musical so you can already read all the notes.
