It might be nice to have some new duets, especially with oboe and another wind instrument (including closely related instruments, like English horn). Since you mention the Mozart quartet, it would definitely be nice to have some more music with that instrumentation (oboe, violin, viola, and cello).

ok im a little confused...
level as in how well I play? If thats the case, here in Florida we grade our solos 1-7, and the Suite is a 5. So its the original, challenging one.

Hi C......HUH?? :P

A few things:

1. Don't go higher than a D, 2 ledger lines above the staff. While we can get up to the F, above the D, it hurts. Badly.

2. No lower than a B flat, 1 line, 1 space below the staff. While Loree does make an oboe with a low A key, these are few and far between. Otherwise, the instrument will just not play it.

3. Don't constantly double the flutes, it becomes very annoying.

4. Don't use ALL low notes, don't be afraid to put in some high notes.

5. Don't be one of those composers who give us 2 notes because there to lazy to write.

Any questions, let me know.

Well not only does going up to a high F hurt badly (for most people), its pretty akward as well.

I'm playing oboe 1 on Dvorak's wind serenade. It is hell for the oboe! It goes up to high D, high Eb, High E, and High F! Not fun!!!
