I've recently bought a Cabart oboe, but I know relatively little about Cabart.

Can anyone here shed any light?

Cabart used to be an independent company but the name is now owned by Loree who use it for a more affordable range of oboes. have heard good reports of them.

I own a Cabart oboe and it is probably the best student oboe you can buy. It will usually have the full conservatory range with a wooden body. These oboes last for years and have a beautifully mellow sound. Like the previous post said it is now part of Loree which is one of the top lines of oboes. Nice choice!

Here is the comment about the Cabart 74 oboe from Howarth of London's web site -

'Founded in 1893, CABART became part of the de Gourdon Company (Maker of Loree) in 1974. CABART is the stamp of well-made student oboes with close tolerances, key-fitting, and cork pads throughout the instrument. Because of their high standard of manufacture combined with precise and stable tuning, CABART is, very often, the most promising student choice.'
