I am a intermediate player and I recently purchased an Paul Gerard oboe over the internet. I thought i was getting a good deal, but ill let yall be the judge.
Its a ring system oboe from the mid 20's with no left F or F resonance key. I tried to bring it back to playing condition with $60 worth in pads and labor, but after playing it for a few days, I realized i cant really play with a ring system oboe. Should i keep it? Or should i try and sell it for a profit and put it towards a more recent oboe?
Thanks for yalls input.

Well, If you can't play it there is no point in keeping it. I would sell it and get something that is playable!

Most people in North America use conservatore system oboes. If it's from the 20's it's probably not in the best condition. Try selling it. Or maybe give it to a museum? Lol?

Haha. It's the only thing I could think of. A nice wall decoration always works if it doesn't sell. Lamp shades and paper weights are cool too.

i would sell it, but if you cant sell it, i agree with making it a wall decoration.
