I need help on the price for a used Kohlert Oboe. I have owned it for a while now, but don't play it anymore. I am not an expert at it or anything but I have noticed that there is leak in it where a pad doesn't want to completly close. The rest is perfectly fine. I have played it a couple of times and it plays well (when having to get the padding completly closed). The oboe seems to be made out of wood, it isn't shiny and has wood-like lines on it. The oboe comes with two swabs and a leather case. If you have any clue on how much this oboe will cost please write it in here or message me. Ill get pictures uploaded soon...

I think there is a general rule of thumb that a good oboe depreciates about 100 dollars a year; you buy one for 5000 and in ten years it's worth 4000.
Not sure if this helps.
Some oboes hold their value better than others so this is not set in stone clearly

I've rented a kohlert oboe for awhile. As far as I know they are really old instruments, most likely from the 60's. Best advice is to go to your repair tech for an evaluation of the oboe. They'll give you recommended price too.

Would the evaluation cost anything? And yeah the oboe is old. Music stores will give very little for an instrument so i'm think about selling to someone, not a company, so this might help in about a price thats good for sell. The pictures will be up, hopefully by tomorrow.

I'm not sure about the cost. I know my local music stores don't charge for evaluations. They usually don't charge for little adjustments either though, so I'm not sure on that one. You may want to phone before hand though.

Do you, by chance, have the serial number or date of purchase for the oboe?
