Hello,

I am looking into buying a yamaha 211 for VERY cheap. I think it's selling for $300 used. It sadly has no Left F but I'd like to add one. I'm wondering if anyone knows someone who can do this?

Also, I was wondering if I could get the topjoint re-fited to my Loree? Is this possible?

What do you mean by refitting the top joint? If it is just a loose fit on the bottom joint that is a 15 minute job which any tech can do.

There are techs who will add keys but expect it to cost about as much as the $300 you will pay for the oboe. I am in UK so don't know much about expert repairers in N. America - assuming that's where you live.

Oh! Thanks for the reply. I was expecting about a $250 repair job and that's fine.

I was wondering if the top joint of a yamaha 211 could fit on a loree. Or if it would need re-fitting.

Mixing bits of different makes of oboe or even different models from the same maker usually doesn't work well because the bores are different & you can get bad tuning problems.

Yeah. I decided not to buy the Yamaha 211. Yamahas are extremely bright! It was just too much work to put in a left F as well.
