Has anyone heard of an oboe maker called LaMargue? I`m not sure if this is a typo or if it`s an actual brand, since Google didn`t turn up anything significant.

It is La Marque a French brand. My daughter is using an older full conserv. as her beginning horn. I have about as much money in it`s adjustment as the horn itself.

Do you mean Maugrix? If so they are a French made oboe and one of the worlds best. If you have to ajust it so much it has problems like wear of the mechanism. Check this name instead. I know they have been around awile.

no i think he truly means La Marque, and it doesn`t surprise me you are having problems. It is a terrible oboe that is no longer made because they weren`t making money because no one bought them anymore....

I beg to differ!
I own a LaMarque Oboe. It is a full conservatory model that has to be at least fifty years old. It has the most beautiful tone and plays easy. Furthermore, its appearance is astounding. It shines and glistens miraculously. This was a great buy at only $900 because of people that believe that LaMarque was a bad company. This oboe, at least, proves that to be wrong. It even plays easier and more efficient than some Rigoutats and Lorees that I have tried.

I have an oboe which I bought as a LaMarque but unless the French have a funny way of writing a script q it definitely looks like LaMargue. It says Paris France along with the name.

Mine does not have special keys beyond the low Bb. My oboe teacher a professional player says its a good student instrument.
