Hi All,
I am currently in the process of finding an English horn solo for spring solo and ensemble contest. However, most of the solos that I have come across are either extremely hard or very "modern" sounding. Does anyone know of an english horn solo that is challenging, but not TOO incredibly difficult, but more "classical" sounding, and not so modern?

Thanks,

Abigail

Contact Rebecca Collins from Oxford Reeds. She plays English Horn and sells reeds. The last time I talked with her she had a good book of English Horn solos in the style that you are describing. Hope this helps.

I know there is a marvelous piece which is not so classical by Sibelius called "The Swan of Tounela". It's very romantic and really beautiful. It looks easy but its amazing if you can phrase it well as well as use the right vibrato and the right espressivo tempo.

I am having trouble printing the pages out from your link as I too am looking for E.H. solos. Are you printing directly from the website?

I am sorry, but I've never had to print out sheet music off of the site I put a link to. I've always had to buy music for competitions. I'm sorry I couldn't help!
