Hey! I've been playing oboe for about 6months and have made awesome progress (if I do says myself) but I have to play contest already and a good slow pretty song that isn't super boring is like right up my alley..... I am playing The Winter's passed by Wayne Barlow....if you play it right it sounds so cool especially in the middle, it's 3/8 time for most of it, and you will need a piano accompanist try it out!!!

I'm not sure. I know the Britten is fairly advanced, the baroque pretty low, and well- symphonic solos probably don't have grades. If you are going for the NYO, I suggest doing one or two movements of the Britten (probably one slow, like Niobe, and one fast, like Phaethon), and a fast easy piece to show off, like a baroque Allegro. In my experience, judges like these because they are harder than they sound. I did the Allegro of Handel's 8th oboe concerto, and the judges liked it so much they made me principal, placing me over someone who had been playing for five years longer!
