I`ve been playing piano for eight years and I started oboe in 6th grade band, and I`m in 7th grade now..... My band teacher tells me that I have excellent tone quality and that I should take private lessons because it`d make my playing even better. Are private lessons important for an oboe? I`m kind of toying with the idea, but I wanna make sure it`d be worth my while because of time limitations.
So, little help here?

i think it`s an excelent idea to take private lessons, especially for oboe. i took them my 1st year (7th grade) and now i`m taking them again (10th grade), "you learn something new every day" it also helps to have a private teacher when you do all-county and jr and sr clinic bands, best of luck!

Private lessons are important for any instrument you play if you want to further your education in it.
A private lesson teacher can give you the one on one attention a band director cannot give you. They can also tell you exactly what equipment to gather for your instrument, how to make reeds in your case, etc.
I highly recommend it...as a band director for beginner band I know how hard it is to give each student the one on one attention they need to improve their playing skills and as a private lesson teacher myself *not in oboe sorry* I`m always getting students who`s band directors have recommended it for some reason or another.
