So, I have a consistent "issue" with my reed making.. I always take too much off of the skeleton of the reed. I know it is a big problem & I don't see why I'm having this issue. I try not to scrape too much in the spine area & then it takes some off the rails.. I try not to take it off the rails, and it gets taken out of the spine!!! My spine and rails are almost nonexistent compared to the finished reeds I always have to compare them to(which are not made by me. lol).
Could this be caused by me putting too much pressure on the reed with my knife? I try not to "dig", but sometimes I feel that I might be a little heavy handed. I sharpen my hollow ground knife a lot & maintain my stones! Maybe it still isn't sharp enough though?

Can anyone give me a little advice, please? I really enjoy making/working on reeds, but this issue is just frustrating me. lol

Nevermind! I figured it out! ;P Knife wasn't sharp enough!!!*facepalm*
It's all good now! Good luck with everyone's reed making endeavors!!
