Oboe is my absolute passion. I have no idea what draws me to it so much, but I just can't stay away. Practicing oboe is honestly my favorite thing to do. I usually practice around 2-4 hours each day, not including band rehearsals. Needless to say, I burn through reeds pretty quick
. I find it difficult to put down once I have started playing. After I convince myself to stop, often times I'll come right back to it in 5 minutes. When I'm not playing oboe, I AM LISTENING TO OBOE. I will listen to solos I am working on over and over again. I am ever so ambitious about my playing. If a measure I am working on isn't JJUUUUST right I'll stay in my room until I get it how I want. I never close my case unsatisfied. (except when my parents get mad at me for playing at 11 PM
). I am not only passionate, but I am quite good for my age if I must say so myself. I have only been playing for two years, but I have made it into many high honors ensembles and gotten several perfect scores at solo and ensemble. When people hear me play and then find out I have only been playing for two years they are completely stunned XD.
Anyways, I am currently a freshman in high school, and am wondering what kind of opportunities I could have as an oboist, college/career-wise.
Thanks!
