Hey, I just got a new batch of reeds from Howarths and they seem okay, but there’s one Reed that doesn’t want me to play a top e because every time I try all that comes out is a squeaking sound. I can manage to get out a normal sounding top e if I blow unnaturally hard but this isn’t really a long term solution I am an experienced player and have no trouble with top notes so I’m pretty sure it’s not my technique or my oboe, is there any way to fix it, thanks

I assume that you are referring to the E above the staff (3 ledger lines). That register can be difficult if the reed has too little resistance and/or is too closed up.
