Hi, I`ve been playing oboe for 3 years and I`ve been using a crappy plastic Selmer. It works, but I`ve really been wanting to upgrade and have been looking around, and I saw a Selmer Omega for a reasonable price, and was wondering if they were any good. If not, what brands of Oboe should I look for? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

i wouldnt buy a selmer. get a plastic fox. they are more expensive, but they are great instruments, at a reasonable price. a fox will retain its value.

I personally play on a Patricola Professional S6 oboe. I believe their student models are just as great too. Perhaps you might want to check it out? I heard Yamaha has made some improvements too.
