i think that scince i play the flute and the oboe we flute players should not be called haters but say what you want. im also the only oboe player in the band so keep your chin up and have fun!

you don`t need 2 worry about what other people think about u! u should just have a gr8 time playing and pruve to the other people that u r there because your a good player. then they will proboly envy u! that`s what happened to me & i am in the some grade &situation that u r in! I know how you feel!! I am a freshman and got stuck playin 1st part. I started really scared but it gets better. Just play at your best ability. And don`t worry about the flutes and clarinets. They don`t know how hard it is to do what we do!! If your director thinks that you can do it than I`m sure you can!! Just remember that you didn`t get as far as you have by being a bad player so you are doing something right!! Good Luck and keep up the good work!!

im 13 now and brusnin my shoulders off to th flutes and clarinets now because i am the best oboe in my school district and first chair in my school band and playin at a high school level so im told so thanks for the big confidence boost yall and stay showin them haters how its done KEEP CRUNK!!!

well i also am the only oboe player in my band too and im in 6th grade. It really stinks! but my friends dont care and say its ok just think your special. The flutes also hate me or at least think im werid except for my friend. But the clarinets dont really care, as long as i play go enough.

at least u don`t have to worry about not being able to play something if ur 1st chair right.
when i went to 7th grade, I was used to being the best(there was only 1 other oboe player and her SUCKED lol).
but i was really afaid that i`d mess up.
l8tr in the yr, i got used to playing difficult songs, so i sorta beat my nervousness(is that a word?) to the top.

Yo bro calm down, it will be fine. I`m going into the 8th grade band, and was playing in the 8th grade band and highschool band in the 7th grade. Don`t worry its fun. Alot of cool music and some solos. Just practise ur 12 major scales. And another thing if you don`t have a private instructor, try and get one, VITAL. And if you do have one, or get one, and are haveing trouble get the Instructor to help you, or maybe even your teacher (probobly not).

Don`t worry about that. I was a flute during my freshman year and i switched over to the Oboe. I didn`t even know what I was getting myself into.I had my first solo that year and I hardly knew how to play. I did a good job. So don`t worry. Oh yeah ignore the whole band. Some of them will support you and some of them will just critise your notes ( quack, quack ). The Flutes will need your help or you will need their help because you guys have the same notes( in some songs.) But in the end you`ll know that your the special one in the whole band. I mean..oboes are the best...:p

I think well done for doing so well, just stick your chin up high and know that you`re playing the hardest instrument.

I started only 10 weeks ago and I think the oboe (and the piano) are the best.

By the way, anyone who says *quack* shame on you. Only beginners sound like that plus people who say that don`t know how hard it is!

aww!!! i felt the exact same way when i was your age!!! those flute and clarinet players can be so harsh, cant they?!? they just don`t understand. keep your chin up and try to have fun. the most fun i ever had playing oboe was when i wasnt distracted by being surrounded by my friends!!!! stay strong and have fun!!!!
