I am playing a Buffet 4052 oboe, its bore is made of grenadilla wood lined with a "luracast coating". I think that`s what you mean by "green line" oboe. No break in is required. I am playing it for more than 1 hour a day since I bought it brand new a year old, I played it more than an hour a day. It`s sound is nice comparable to a professional oboe. One disadvantage that it is not a fully automatic model.

I think the oboe Richard playing is not a Greenline-unless Buffet has changed them. Greenline oboes are indestructible. You can put them in a freezer and then pull them out and play them in a 200 degree room and nothing would happen to them. The Greenlines are made from Grenadilla wood shavings which have been `glued` together. They are made of wood but because they are not whole pieces of Grenadilla they will never break.
I have played a few of them and I have never been thrilled with them, they never really felt like `real` oboes and always sounded like cardboard in my hands;but having said that I know a couple of people who play on them and they sound great. So you never really know. I would suggest playing anything you can get your hands on and then decide. The really attractive feature of Greenlines is that you never have to worry about them cracking which can turn into a nightmare, but that doesn`t mean that Greenlines are immune to getting water-they won`t crack but condensation forms in a cold instrument no matter what the the make.
Good luck.

I have just tried several, and I have several collegues who are using them.
They sound very nice and I liked them.
To me they feel a bit different than a Loree but I would definately consider playing one in my job.

Go for it!
