Hi, my parents are on the the verge of buying me professional oboe. either a Rigoutat Expression or an AK bore Loree. The oboes will be arriving from Nora Post (norapost.com) on Tuesday. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the merits of either or both oboes?

Thanks for any help!

I`m going off to a master class with Allan Vogel today!

The only way to really know is if you actually play them yourself and decide for yourself. Regardless of what people say, it comes down to you what oboe you should get.

Really go for what sounds best! I mean I use a Regular Loree Bore oboe (which I sounded the best on) and I also sounded good on the AK but I picked the Regular because it had a good dark rich sound. Pick what you think sounds best! Also get your teacher to listen to you play on the oboe! Either Rigoutat or Loree would work! Ever think about Yamaha?

Buy a Marigaux instead! That`s what Alan Vogel plays.
