Don`t forget about the famous jazz artist Yusef Lateef. He plays oboe frequently on his recordings. Check out "Eastern Sounds" for a taste.

Yusej Lateef is definately one to check out. That could also give you ideas on what to write for your song.

If you need a doubler and are absolutely certain that none of your oboists could ever learn jazz, if you have a sax player who doubles on flute, they might be able to pull it off. I would take a few months to learn, but I myself switched from flute to oboe. Many of the fingering positions are the same, except that the oboe is vertical instead of horizontal. Just another idea to toy with!

I personally am trying to learn jazz on my oboe, just to prove that it can be done! (Hence my username)
