I always get a C..sometimes C#..,My C`s are really hard to play in tune.

If it`s a good reed, it should crow a C... there are certain adjustments you can make to it to adjust the pitch though.

It`s a funny thing...reeds being tuned to "A440"... because when oboists tune their reeds, their tune them to a crowed "C" and not an A. To crow, put your lips at the string and blow, and you should hear a C. If you play on a student reed, you might get a C, you might not. Sometimes the reeds aren`t refined very well, and you`ll get a C with other pitches in it. This is manageable to play on, but the reed won`t be very stable.
