I play the Clarinet and Sax and i am starting the oboe in a weeks time (that is to say i will have the oboe and i will be teaching my self for a month before starting lessons with the most amazing women in the world. should i leave the oboe untill my reall lessons or will i play it on my own for a while?

Definitely start playing before before your lessons start. However, if you are not sure about how to assemble & disassemble the oboe, you may want to wait, or be very careful. Also, expect reeds to be problematic.
