I am a beginner. Sometimes, no matter what I do, I cannot go from F to Eb in the upper register. I take the oboe apart, clean it, try different reeds, and anything else I can think of. (At other times, this is no problem.) I`m playing a Yamaha 211.
Any help would be

Um, seeing that you have taken it apart, the problem can totally be adjustment and pad screwups. Go take it in to a person who specializes in oboes.

if you know any more experienced oboe players, they could take a look and play it for you. it could be that you arnt holding the keys down hard enough or it could be a technical problem (like the person above said).

^yea i agree that`s what u should do first, then do the first suggestion. with both those u can`t go wrong...

i have a problem with the exact same note on the bassoon (well, 1 octave below of course) i ithnk it`s because the second hole is clogged, and since the holes for the bassoon have such great distance between the opening and the bore, and they`re drilled in sideways,t here are bound to be problems.. lol. or maybe we hav the same problem, u never know.. i`m getting it checked by some guy my band director knows, since no one can play the bassoon at my school..

Flat problems are pretty common. I myself have problems with Bb (b-flat), and I would recommend that you try playing with opposite hands. On my Selmer, sometimes my index finger likes to rest on a dual key for Ab (A-flat) and it really messes up my tone.

I think it would be a lot easier if
you use the "forked f" you know? The D without
the middle finger... U can also do this with the Eb key down
at the same time. Helps me alot...
I also just found out about the alternate Ab and Ive been playin oboe for awhile...
I feel kinda slow about it..Lol
