I am looking at one, its at a good price, but i would like to know if Yamaha discontinued it for a reason.

yes, you can only find is at closeout by people like woodwind brasswind, for a little over $2,000.

Yamaha redesigned its whole oboe line startign witht he YOB841, then they updated the YOB410 to the YOB441A with all of the new key, bore, and tonehole improvements and improved playability developed on the custom series.
