Hello all,

I`m a 14 year old saxophone player in my local homeschool band, and I`ve been playing for three years. My first instrument choice was the oboe, but at the time a started playing in the band, it was not possible for me to play it, but now I have the oportunity and I`d really like to start playing the oboe. I`m looking to buy an oboe which will last me until I might want to stary playing professionally, between about $2000 and $2500, with at least a modified conservatory system with most of the extra keys, and if possible a full conservatory key system. At the moment I`m looking at the Yamaha YOB-441, the Fox 330 Artist, and the Larilee 400W, could anybody rate these instruments against each other and recommend any other good oboes in this price range.

Thanks very much,
Chris

Umm.....from what I`ve heard Larilee isn`t that great a brand...but who knows; I mean, people say that Selmer sucks but mine`s awesome!

hmmm I would go with the Yamaha Professional model. Many professional musicians in the top Orchestra`s in the U.S. use Yamaha`s.
