Hello everyone,
I`m looking to buy an oboe and would like to know if the Yamaha YOB-411P, with the resin top joint and grenadilla wood lower joint and bell, is a good oboe for a beginner/intermediate. I can`t afford to pay more than 2,500$
Thanks for any help,

Im not a fan of yamahas. I have a lower model than you are looking at, and mine is almost 9-10 years old, but i have had more problems with it than anyone else i have played with. The problem i see with Yamahas is in the key joints and some of the springs give out pretty easily. I have had several different joints replaced several times each. For student models, or as a(n) beginner/intermediate player, i would look for a used oboe of higher quality than the Yamahas. I could be wrong on the higher models they put out, but Selmers or if you can afford it, the Buffets are wonderful. I have played on both, and found them to be much better than my own.
HOpe this helps some.
